Cranial Sacral Therapy

Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.

By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. (Taken from the Upledger Institute web site http://www.upledger.com/)

Myopulse and Acuscope

What is Cerebral Electrical Stimulation (CES)?

CES provides gentle, individualized output which is safe and non-invasive resulting in a deep relaxation.   The Acuscope is not 'blind output" like all other microcurrent devices; but rather it utilizes computer chip circuitry to analyze and respond to individual needs by modifying its output as the tissue requires. The Acuscope was the first microcurrent modality when it was introduced in 1978. It is the only biofeedback-regulated micro-amperage technology.

Each organ, bone, muscle, and brain cell responds to different electrical frequency.  CES provides exact electrical pulse that is a perfect match with perfect intensity providing exactly what the cells need for healing.

The Acuscope helps return nerve signals to normal, influencing nerve cells “in their own language” until healthy patterns are re-established. Treatment has a profound impact throughout the Nervous System.

The Electro-Acuscope is FDA approved and categorized as a Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation device.  However, unlike ordinary TENS which bombards the cells to temporarily block pain signals, the highly sophisticated Acuscope helps to resolve underlying issues at a cellular level with gentle biocompatible microcurrents.  It is literally non-invasive and without discomfort to the client during treatment.  When nerve conductivity improves, tissue repairs, stress is reduced; results are remarkable.

How Can It Help?
CES provides support to the Nervous System for self correcting and promotes healthier electrical circulation throughout the body. Cranial Electrical Stimulation (CES) can produce a calm state of mind and better sleep.  It also can support improved brain functioning including improved speech and motor skills.  It is suitable for people of all ages including children and the elderly and can be effective in acute or chronic cases, such as:

  • Central nervous system disorders

  • Chemotherapy and radiation side effects

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Chronic pain

  • Emotional problems: anxiety and depression

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Headaches: migraines, sinus and stress- related

  • Immune disorders

  • Improves sense of well being

  • Insomnia & sleep disorders

  • Low energy

  • Stress and tension related dysfunctions

  • Autism

  • Depression

  • Eye Convergenge

  • Speech Changes

  • Improves state of regulation (autonomic nervous system disregulation)

What Can You Expect?
A headband and ear clips are used during this technique.  A series of treatments is usually necessary to produce long lasting and/or permanent self-repair. The effects are cumulative as the body absorbs the benefits of each successive treatment. Generally 3 to 15 treatments are required for stabilization of gains.  Treatment plan is individualized in machine setting and duration, according to the needs of the individual. (Information taken from http://biohealth.ca)

The Kinesio Taping® Method is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting.
